I use the King James Version, this is from the NIV Life in the Spirit Study Bible,,
Revelation chapter 8
1) When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2) And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.
3) Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the alter. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, and the golden alter before the throne.
4) The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up befoer God from the angel's hand.
5) Then the angel took the censer, filled with fire from the alter, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.
6) Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
7) The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and and all the green grass was burned up.
8) The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood,
9) a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10) The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water --
11) the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
12) The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.
13) As I watched, I heard angel that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: "Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!

8:1 - the seventh seal...........The opening of the seventh seal initiates the seven trumpets of judgement; thus, the trumpet judgements are the seventh seal. The trumpet judgements are partial judgements, while the judgements of the seven bowls are more severe. The seventh trumpet will announce the seven bowls of judgement. The silence in heaven is due to the horror of the coming judgements against sin.
8:7 - hail and fire mixed with blood...........The first four trumpet judgements begin. (1) One-third of the earth's vegetation is destroyed by fire and hail; one-third of the sea and rivers is polluted; the heavens, sun, moon and stars are darkened for a third part of both day and night. (2) The judgements affect humans also, for many are killed. The judgement is limited to one third of the world, because the purpose of the judgement is partial to warn people and bring them to repentance.
8:8 - huge mountain, all ablaze.........This may be a great burning meteor, which falls into the sea and kills one-third of the sea creatures and destroys and destroys many ships.8:11 - Wormwood..........."Wormwood" is a bitter plant, representing God's judgement and human sorrow(see Dt 29:18; Pr 5:4; Jer 9:15; Am 5:7).
8:13 - an eagle that was flying..........The eagle's threefold cry of woe is to warn that the next three trumpet judgements will be much more intense and devestating than those that preceded. The fifth and sixth judgements will involve horrible demonic forces.
NIV Life in the Spirit Study Bible is what my friend uses. I use the King James Version.. As long as they are studying up, It makes me no differents. We talk about it all....
